Blur is a very significant band when it comes to the Britpop genre. Many of their songs emphasize the "grunginess" of the alternative rock in which Britpop was formed, but this song imparticular embodies the "pop" side of Britpop. After listening to this song, the message that the band is trying to get through to listeners is the debate of modern life. More specifically, how the world as a whole can move quickly while you are stuck standing still.
